With 25 years in the car business, Grier’s journey began at an independent lot—where he learned that a dealership should be more than just a place to buy cars. Starting as a technician cleaning cars and scrubbing toilets, he discovered early on that genuine customer care creates lasting connections. His career quickly evolved as he worked for some of the highest-volume dealerships in the state, wearing many hats along the way. Yet it was that first independent lot that left the strongest impression. There, the atmosphere was laid-back and centered on doing right by the customer—where buyers were treated like friends, not just numbers on a sales sheet. Customers would drop in just to chat, share stories, and feel part of a welcoming community. This unique dynamic became the blueprint for what Grier believes a dealership should be. Today, Hatfield Automotive is built on that very foundation—a commitment to honest, transparent service where every car sale is the start of a lasting relationship. This philosophy isn’t just our history; it’s our growth strategy and what sets us apart in today’s market.

Grier is a proud husband and father, and his family is at the heart of everything he does. In an industry that often demands long hours at the expense of family time, he witnessed firsthand how the traditional car business leaves spouses to shoulder the burden alone—a reality that earned his wife the notorious “car widow” label. For years, Grier sacrificed countless birthdays, school events, and important family moments to meet sales targets. The turning point came with the birth of his third child, who faced serious medical challenges. It was then that Grier realized no sale or target was worth sacrificing the irreplaceable time with his family. Determined to change the narrative, he built Hatfield Automotive with a different approach. Our appointment-only model reflects this commitment—it’s designed to respect your time as well as our own. We ensure that every interaction is thoughtful and personal, not a rushed transaction.
